Bruce has extended his passion for music in to the recording business!

For samples of recordings click here to go to The One World Experience page. His musical education background includes Toronto Royal Certification grade 8 Piano by the age of 15. He was also part of the Boys Choir in Regina and took part in many choral festivals as a soloist with the choir.

He then took up the French Horn, and with excellent instruction by Mel Carey at the Regina Conservatory of Music, was soon 1st chair Horn in the Regina Intercollegiate Orchestra and 4th chair in the Regina Symphony.

Veterinary education led to a hiatus from music and the sale of his beloved French Horn to pay for textbooks! By 1986, the itch was becoming too intense, and the family piano - an 1887 Heintzman - was transported in his pickup truck from Regina to Bragg Creek. Miraculously, the piano maintained almost perfect tuning! Bruce then encouraged son Simon to learn the piano, and he re-introduced himself to the instrument.

While in the symphony, Bruce always sat next to the percussionists, and he found himself drawn to hand percussion. In 1993, he joined the student body of One-World-Drum Co. and soon became part of the student performing troupe - the One World Drummers. Roger Duncan and Bruce were instrumental in introducing a more melodic element to the drums. Roger added the didgeridoo and Bruce the native flute and other wind instruments. The Urban Tribe was formed and created and performed works for Ecstatic or Trance Dances.

The basis of this group lead to the new band, One World Experience.  , which has now morphed into Scruffy Fish.

Bruce and Roger are now creating and engineering the original songs played by the group.

Sanctuary Studio is using the recording software, Cubase Studio 5 on a computer platform in a Mac G-5 dual processor. The interface of Firewire 410 allows recording directly and the use of MIDI instrumentation and editing. All the mixing devices are internal in the computer removing the necessity for a lot of hardware. The learning process is time consuming, but we now have a demo CD of some new songs that is industry quality.
